Excellent Considerate Constructor’s Scheme performance for Hills Homes site manager

Considerate Constructor's Scheme

Site manager, Karl Kaljusko, has been acknowledged for the excellent way he manages his building site with the presentation of a Performance Beyond Compliance certificate from the national Considerate Constructor’s Scheme (CCS).

Karl manages the Hills Homes Developments site at Station Meadows in Calne, Wiltshire, where 101 new homes have been built recently. The site has proved very popular with local buyers and only three apartments remain for sale.

Karl said: “I was really proud to learn that the CSS assessment of my site had resulted in such good scores in each of the five categories assessed. It is gratifying to be acknowledged in this way as a lot of work goes into maintaining such high standards.”

The CCS assesses construction sites on the following five categories in the Scheme’s Code of Considerate Practice: Site appearance, respect the community, protect the environment, secure everyone’s safety, and value the workforce.

Sites are not only assessed for compliance, but also to identify measures taken which are above and beyond these requirements, with a score of 10 in each section being the highest achievable.

John Doody, production manager for Hills Homes, said: “Hills registers all its construction sites with the CCS and our site managers work hard to perform beyond statutory requirements and support the call to improve the image of construction.”

Hills Homes funds historic restoration project in Calne

Historic Restoration Project

An historic wall within the magnificent Castlefields Park in the centre of Calne is on track to undergo essential repairs with a historic restoration project following funding from local company, Hills Homes Developments.

Castlefields Park was transferred to Calne Town Council in 2012 as a community asset from Wiltshire Council. The Town Council recognised the area as an essential green lung to the town and wanted to ensure it remained as a green space and a community asset for the present and future generations to come.

Following some freak weather the Town Council discovered that in addition to urgent work to some of the trees, the historic wall within the park was in a very poor state of repair with parts of it liable to collapse.

Urgent funding as required to help with the high cost of repairs to reinstate the wall sympathetically and in a manner which was fitting for such a historic part of Calne.

Following discussions between the Castlefields Canal and River Park (CARP) Association and the Town Council, amendments were agreed to the Section 106 agreement relating to Hills Homes’ Station Road development, which has enabled Hills to provide funding to reinstate the historic wall.

The funding also provides for the expertise of a conservation architect who will ensure that the historic value of this part of Calne is preserved whilst also protecting the important surrounding flora and fauna during the project.

This is the second time that Hills has provided funding for Castlefields Park. In 2011, Hills funded the restoration of a former lock with replica narrow boat that forms a focal feature at the main entrance to Castlefields Park.

Hills Homes has established a strong reputation for building high-quality homes on carefully selected sites. From bespoke country homes on the edge of sought-after villages to major urban developments, Hills brings individual quality to each of its developments.

Strong sales sees Hills Homes move confidently onto Phase 2 development in Calne

Calne

Strong sales activity sees local developer move confidently onto Phase 2 of new homes
development in Calne.

The market town of Calne continues to be a popular choice for house buyers with homes in the first phase of the Station Meadows development selling on target within 12 months of being launched.

Nick King, Group Director of Hills Homes, said: “Buyers responded quickly and positively to the development and we are confident that the launch of Phase 2 will be just as well received. It offers the same mix of 2,3 and 4-bedroom homes that attracted a range of purchasers to the first phase and the forward interest remains encouraging.”

“The fact that Calne benefits from enviable sport and leisure facilities plus a number of nature trails, cycle routes and riverside walks including Castle Park, which borders the Station Meadows development, makes it an ideal location for buyers who are looking for a combination of country living yet being conveniently close to a market town.”

Selling agents Atwell Martin confirm that the majority of purchasers have come from Calne itself and the immediate surrounding areas. Agent Jane Slusarczyk said: “Buyers have been impressed with the quality of the build and in particular the size of home they have been able to secure.”
